Acquisition of the Guilbert's distance-selling office materials by Staples given go-ahead

Brussels, 15/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has given the green light to the proposed acquisition by US office supplies firm Staples of French company Guilbert's office supplies distance-selling business (controlled by Pinault-Printemps-Redoute Group). France's Guilbert is currently the largest distributor of office supplies in Europe, which it carries out both through individual contracts with large firms and distance selling (mail order and Internet).
