Parliament approves appointment of Lucas Papademos - Randzio-Plath again insists on transparency

Strasbourg, 14/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - Experts in the field all know Lucas Papademos (Governor of the Central Bank of Greece appointed as Vice-President of the European Central Bank to replace Christian Noyer), but citizens, too, must have confidence in him. The hearing of the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs confirmed Mr Papademos' personal integrity, his ability and his desire for greater transparency.
