14/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - Through a question of order, Monday evening, at the plenary session in Strasbourg, Italian Radical Marco Cappato withdrew his request of President Cox to launch an internal investigation regarding the aborted press conference on Jean-Marie Le Pen and the "two cream tarts received in full face" by two MEPs (these were the Front National members Jean-Claude Martinez and Bruno Gollnisch). Mr. Cappato quickly added that his intervention had not had as goal to defend Le Pen "who can do so himself", but freedom of ideas in the way Voltaire saw it. President Pat Cox answered that he had already asked for an enquiry.
