Next week EP will adopt Opinion on setting up of European Aviation Safety Agency, based on amendments negotiated with Council

Brussels, 04/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - Next week the European Parliament will give its opinion on second reading of the report by Ingo Schmitt (EPP, Germany) on the setting up of the European Aviation Safety Agency. With an annual budget of some EUR 29 million and 200 officials for when it comes into operation in 2004, the EASA will issue certificates for aviation products and provide technical assistance to the Commission for setting European rules in this area.
