First meeting of European Securities Committee allows progress to be made on breakdown of European powers

Brussels, 24/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - Last Friday in Brussels, the European Security Committee (ESC) met for the first time since its creation on 6 June this year (see EUROPE of 7 June, p.7). Composed of Member State representatives, the ESC was established in parallel to the Committee of European Security Regulators (CESR) in the context of the accelerated decision-making process proposed by the Lamfalussy Report for integration of the securities market by end 2003 (see EUROPE of 16...
