Beijing scathing at resolution on religious freedom

Brussels, 28/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - Questioned about the resolution the European Parliament recently adopted on religious freedom in China (see EUROPE of 17 February, p.5), a spokesman for the Embassy of the People's Republic of China said that Parliament had "distorted facts" and "wantonly slandered" China, which therefore expresses its "strong dissatisfaction".
