Mr Ajello special representative for the Great african Lakes - Extension of Mr Hombach's mandate in the Balkans

Brussels, 03/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - Aldo Ajello became the European Union's Special Representative for the Great (African) Lakes Region on 1 January 2001. The March 1996 joint action on the nomination of a Special EU Envoy for the Great Lakes expired on 31 December 2000 and the Council of the EU adopted a new joint CFSP action to nominate a Special Representative for the Region (see EUROPE on 30 December, p.3, on the Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Miguel Angel...
