03/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be visiting Russia on 13 to 17 January in the Caucasian region, in order to prepare the way for potentially restoring Russia's right to vote in the Council of Europe, an issue that the Council will be debating in the first session of the new year on 22-26 January in Strasbourg. Russia's right to vote was withdrawn in April 2000 following the allegation that it had violated human rights in Chechnia.
