03/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - Italian farmers (Confagricultura) have asked the Italian Government to oppose the increase of duty-free import of Tunisian olive oil. The European Commission is negotiating a new agricultural trading regime with Tunisia, providing for preferential quotas being taken to 56,000 tonnes a year, and then increased by 1,500 tonnes a year until 2005.
