Council unanimous in deploring attitude of Americans and their allies and urges all parties to resume negotiations as quickly as possible

Brussels, 19/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Environment Council, that ended in Brussels on Tuesday, had a lengthy debate on ways of breaking the deadlock in international negotiations over climate change, following the failure of the Conference of The Hague and the not too conclusive meeting in Ottawa, and adopted unanimous conclusions that refocus the Union's unequivocal stance (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.11).
