Dutch publisher VNU is to make a friendly takeover bid on the American group AC NIELSEN (turnover $1.57 billion for the financial year ending September 2000 with 21,000 employed) at the price of $36.75 per share, making the group as a whole worth EUR 2.6 billion. The bid is for 100% of AC NIELSEN capital. The latter is specialised in market studies and product and services analyses.
