19/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - In an interview with the "Figaro" of 19 December, the President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Wojislav Kostunica, replied to a question on Serbia's possibly integration into NATO as follows: "There are other paths of integration, economic and political, more interesting. The most important thing is to achieve the reintegration of Serbia within Europe. Regarding NATO, there are fors and againsts. I believe that reasons against win the day. You must bear in mind that this country was destroyed by NATO". In addition, Mr. Kostunica said that he had proposed to the Kosovar leader Ibrahim Rugova "a one-to-one meeting, whatever the place", but that "it seems that threats coming from Albanian extremists prevent him from accepting".
