19/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana, as the President of the European Madariaga Foundation, Scientific foundation for the College of Europe, for the 50th anniversary of the College of Europe in Bruges, on 18 December in Brussels, sent a message in which he recalled his "studious promises" at the time when he had been in England to deepen his studies in physics, with his uncle Salvador Madariaga, "Don Salvador". When I want to outline a point of view "in the most didactic manner possible", "I try to imitate as much as possible this manner (…) of influencing by dialoguing, to put on the same footing the student and master", asserts in his message the High Representative for CFSP. "His dear College of Europe, to which he was so attached (…) has been eclipsed with time", underlined Mr Solana, when noting that the Madariaga Foundation brings "a new and promising dimension to the College" of Bruges.
