Brussels, 19/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised the project of the Swiss company Georg Fischer AG and the German bank Westdeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (WestLB) aiming to acquire the German groups Krupp Werner & Pfleiderer (KWP), subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp, and to integrate it within a new holding with the two subsidiaries of Fischer, Waeschle and Buss. Georg Fischer is an industrial group whose main activities are vehicle technology, piping systems, production engineering and plant construction, the latter sector representing on its own a total turnover of EUR 390 million achieved through several companies. Waeschle produces, for its part, plants and systems aimed at the processing and transportation of plastic powder, while Buss has as main activity the production of machines for the processing of plastic (extruders), sector in which KWP is also present. This operation will not lead to any overlaps of activities, apart from the extruders market f or which KWP already holds the largest share both at the EEA level as at the world level. However, KWP and Buss will be in the present of many competitors active at the global level such as Berstorff, AVP Baker Ltd and Japan Steel Works Ltd. Under these conditions the Commission authorised the operation.
