19/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council adopted a common action giving its agreement of principal to the long-term management, by the Union, of the mission of the multinational element of the Council in terms of police in Albania, for which it had entrusted the management to the Western European Union. Through this common action, which completes that of 1999 on the union contribution to the re-establishment of a viable police force in Albania, the Council calls on the Western European Union to implement this action for an interim period and foresees to this end an additional payment of EUR 720,000 until 31 may 20012. At the same time, the Council entrusted the competent bodies to prepare the decisions enabling to define the management conditions of this action, "at the right time", by the European Union.
