16/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament has, through a new resolution, taken a position on the situation in Burma, by reiterating the call for EU sanctions and especially by "strictly" subordinating EU participation in the EU/ASEAN Summit of Minister for Foreign Affairs to two conditions: the "unconditional freeing" of all the political prisoners; the undertaking by the Burmese Junta to talks with the National League for democracy and with the "ethnic nationalities".
