ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) mines

A consortium made up of the British mining groups BILLITON and ANGLO AMERICAN and the Swiss GELNCORE acquired a 50% stake in a coal mine in Colombia, belonging to the government, for around USD 384 million. The mine should produce some 18.5 million tonnes of clean coal for export in 2000.
