EMI and Time Warner decide not to go ahead for the moment with their planned merger, given the European Commission's objections (which could facilitate the approval of the rapprochement between AOL and Tim Warner)

Brussels, 05/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - The groups EMI Plc and Time Warner Inc have informed the Commission that they were withdrawing their notification, having put an end to their planned merger. On 5 February, the two groups had notified their agreement in view of receiving the approval of the European competition authorities.
