ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) energy

EDF - ELECTRICITE DE FRANCE has concluded an agreement with America's AES to take joint control of the 11.68% stake the American firm RELIANT ENERGY has in the Brazilian company LIGHT (1.8 bn euro equivalent turnover in 1999, with 3 million customers) for $430 million. Through this stake, EDF will raise its shares to in LIGHT to 57.93%.
