07/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Association of Commercial Television (ACT) welcomed the vote in the European Parliament approving the directive on financial transparency, that imposes a legal obligation of separate accounting on companies in receipt of dual public and commercial funding. The ACT considers that this vote should help resolve the affairs of suffering competition regarding radio-broadcasting in Europe: its director, Ross Biggam, hopes that the "Commission will now have access to accurate data to enable it to adjudicate on serious complaints, some of which were first filed in the early 90s, of distortions of competition by dual-financed public broadcasters"..
