Council adopts "common position" on labelling of beef

Luxembourg, 07/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Council has formally adopted its "common position" on the labelling of beef on the basis of the common guideline reached by agriculture ministers during their meeting of 17 April in Luxembourg. EUROPE recalls that this text provides for the introduction of the new labelling system in two phases: 1 September 2000 and 1 January 2002 (see our bulletin 19 April, p.7).
