ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) construction

French SAINT-GOBAIN has announced the signing of a letter of intent for the acquisition of operational assets in the roofing activity of the US company CELOTEX, specialised in the production of wooden asphalt shingles. CELOTEX made a turnover in the roofing sector of $135 million in 1999 with 5 factories, while the "construction branch" of SAINT-GOBAIN made a turnover of EUR 2.63 billion in 1999.
