Commission slaps steep fine on ADM, Ajinomoto and three other companies responsible for illegal world agreement in lysine sector

Brussels, 07/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has slapped fines totaling almost 110 million euro on five companies for having set up an illegal world agreement in the lysine sector, the most important amino acid used in animal foodstuffs for nutritional purposes, as well as in the composition of nutritive complements for human usage. The incriminated companies, ie. ADM (United States), Ajinomoto Co (Japan), Cheil (Korea), Kyowa Hakko (Japan and Sewon (Korea), are being sanctioned for...
