Roma international day this Saturday - European Commission actions

Brussels, 07/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The 8 April is the "Roma International Day." The European Commission "favourably welcomed this initiative" which it hopes will "increase the sensibilisation of the public to problems concerning the Roma populations." The European Monitoring Centre for racist and xenophobic phenomena is studying the situation of the Roma in the EU. Outside the EU the improvement of the situation for the Roma is part of the conditions for the accession of the candidate...
