General Affairs Council adopts severe conclusions on human rights situation in China but leaves its attitude pending on American resolution being voted in Geneva

Brussels, 21/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Union reserves itself the right to make its position known, at the very last moment, should a resolution denouncing the human rights situation in China be voted during the meeting of the UN Commission on Human Rights. The United States is urging the EU to support the draft resolution on China that it hopes to present during the meeting which has already begun (20 March to 28 April in Geneva).
