Brussels, 08/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commissioner for Transport, Loyola de Palacio proposed to the United States to take part in a joint declaration with the EU to adopt more restrictive certification norms on aircraft noise, in exchange for suspending the European regulation that bans planes equipped with soundproofing systems, Hushkits. Such a declaration should also foresee mechanisms for the phasing out of more noisy planes.
