Italy gains unfair enrichment from use of its right of pre-emption on a Van Gogh painting

Strasbourg, 05/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - In a ruling issued in Strasbourg on 5 January 2000, the European Court of Human Rights notes that Italy has misunderstood the right of ownership, as protected by the European Convention on Human Rights, using its right of pre-emption on the painting by Vaincent Van Gogh entitled "The Gardner".
