05/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - On 4 January Italy established diplomatic relations with North Korea, thus becoming the first country of the Group of Seven to do so (Japan and Canada have announced that they intend going down the same path). The decision was preceded by consultations with South Korea, on the fringe of the OSCE Summit in Istanbul on 18 and 19 November.
