Brussels, 05/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Council recommendation on the co-operation between the fifteen Member States in the fight against the financing of terrorism (adopted last December 9) was published in the Official Journal N° C/373 of December 23 1999. It targeted the creation of a system of information exchange on terrorist groups present in several Member States. Nevertheless, the participation in this action is not obligatory: Member States whose legislation allow such an exchange of information, as well as Europol "in as far as possible".
The Council's working group will study the question of terrorist groups that constitute a real threat.
