01/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Monday 1 June the appointment of two independent expert bodies tasked with supporting the implementation of the European regulation on artificial intelligence (AI Act) and assessing risks. The Scientific Panel, which will bring together 60 leading international experts, will provide opinions on general-purpose AI models and systems, their systemic risks, as well as on model classification, assessment methodologies and cross-border market surveillance. For its part, the Advisory Forum, made up of 174 members from academia, civil society and industry, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups, will provide its expertise on a wide range of subjects, notably standardisation issues and challenges linked to implementation of the regulation. Its term of office is set at two years. (APH)
