01/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – French President Emmanuel Macron announced, on Monday 1 June that the French Navy had boarded, the previous morning, the Tagor, a tanker under EU sanctions since 24 October 2025, arriving from Russia. This operation was carried out in the Atlantic, on the high seas, with the support of several partners, including the United Kingdom, in strict compliance with the law of the sea, the President stressed on X. “Our determination is constant and total. (...) It is unacceptable for ships to circumvent international sanctions, violate the law of the sea, and fund the war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine for more than four years”, Mr Macron stressed. He added that these vessels, “which do not comply with the most basic rules of maritime navigation”, also constitute a threat to environment and to everyone’s safety. (CG)
