CESAER, the Coimbra Group, the European University Association (EUA), EU-LIFE, the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities, the League of European Research Universities (LERU) and the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN) have called for a clear and structured link between the European Competitiveness Fund and the 10th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe (FP10), in an open letter published on Wednesday 25 February (see EUROPE 13763/17).
As the European ministers responsible for competitiveness debate the role of this Fund the following day (see EUROPE 13815/17), the signatories hope that its creation “complements FP10’s strengths” and “delivers real scale-up, acceleration and deployment capacity for Europe”. “This requires well-designed interfaces, transparent award criteria, and simplification that reduces friction for beneficiaries – so the ECF (European Competitiveness Fund) matches competitiveness ambition with delivery capacity”, they say.
They say they are ready to work constructively and proactively with the European institutions and Member States.
