30/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 30 January, the EU Council adopted a €20 million assistance measure under the ‘European Peace Facility’ for Armenia. This is the second measure for this country, following initial support of €10 million in July 2024 (see EUROPE 13458/10). This new measure aims to strengthen the logistical capabilities of the Armenian armed forces, in particular the protection of civilians in crisis and emergency situations. In practical terms, the measure funds logistical and medical equipment not designed to deliver lethal force, with two additional battalion-size camp elements and related camp services. According to the Council, European support will also help to enhance the country’s resilience and accelerate the interoperability of its armed forces with a view to possible future participation in international military missions and operations, including those deployed by the EU.
