30/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 30 January, the Council of the EU announced that it had approved conclusions on the priorities that the EU will follow in the United Nations human rights forums in 2026. In these conclusions, the EU reiterates its firm commitment to the respect and protection of human rights for all, everywhere in the world, and pledges that it will continue its efforts to put an end to and prevent human rights violations. The Union stresses that international law, in particular the United Nations Charter, must be respected. The Council also explains that the EU pays particular attention to combating impunity and ensuring accountability.
