08/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 8 December, the EU Council adopted the Interinstitutional Agreement on the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) (see EUROPE 13766/25). The aim of the programme, which has a budget of €1.5 billion for 2025-2027, including €300 million for the Ukraine Support Instrument, is to improve the competitiveness of the European Defence Technology Industrial Base and to guarantee the availability and timely supply of defence products throughout the Union, according to the EU Council. The European Parliament adopted the negotiated regulation on 25 November (see EUROPE 13759/9). The regulation will be signed on 17 December 2025 and will come into force the day after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
