EU Council formalises streamlining of GDPR rules for data transfers between countries

17/11/25 (Agence Europe)On Monday 17 November, the Council of the EU officially approved the agreement on the new GDPR rules on cross-border data transfers, a few months after an agreement was reached with the European Parliament. This modification should facilitate better coordination among authorities to expedite the processing of cross-border data protection complaints. The measures adopted will help to streamline administrative procedures relating to complainants’ rights and the admissibility of cases. The new regulation will speed up the processing of cross-border complaints lodged by citizens or organisations under the GDPR, as well as follow-up investigations. Regarding the admissibility of complaints related to cross-border data processing, these will be assessed based on the same information, regardless of the country from which they originate. (IS)
