06/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – Following the green light from the EU Member States (see EUROPE 13721/15), the Association Agreement between the EU and Morocco, in its revised form, entered into force provisionally on 3 October. A ruling by the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) annulled the initial agreement on 4 October 2024, with effect delayed by one year (see EUROPE 13497/12). The provisional application allows Moroccan products, as well as those from Western Sahara, to continue to enter the EU duty-free. The main change in the new agreement is the addition of clear labelling for products from Western Sahara, a territory disputed between Morocco and the Polisario Front. The CJEU ruling targeted the failure to consult the people of Western Sahara prior to the conclusion of the agreement. To see the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/isc (LM)
