Valletta Protocol on modernisation of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters includes fight against smuggling of migrants

“When it comes to migration, the Council of Europe’s work is legal in nature”, explains Gianluca Esposito, Director General of Human Rights and the Rule of Law, speaking alongside the Parliamentary Assembly’s autumn plenary session, which was held last week and saw the adoption of a Resolution on striking a balance between efficiency and human rights in the use of artificial intelligence in migration (see other news).
