Hungary is facing a “weakening of checks and balances” and the “instrumentalisation of constitutional norms and laws to cement the political preferences of the ruling party”, condemns a resolution adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Tuesday 30 September (89 votes in favour and 35 against, mainly within CEPA, the Conservatives, Patriots & Affiliates group).
