Euro area inflation estimated at 2.2% in September

01/10/2025 (Agence Europe)Annual inflation in the euro area is estimated at 2.2% in September, compared with 2.0% in August, according to a flash estimate published by the EU’s statistical office (Eurostat) on Wednesday 1 October. The highest inflation rates were recorded in Estonia (5.2%, compared with 6.2% in August), Croatia (4.6%) and Latvia (4.1%). The lowest figures were recorded in Cyprus (0%), France (1.1%), Italy and Greece (1.8%). Price rises remained active in Spain (3.0%) and were sustained in Germany (2.4%). With regard to the main components of inflation in the euro area, services are expected to record the highest annual rate in September (3.2%, compared with 3.1% in August), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (3.0%, compared with 3.2% in August), industrial goods excluding energy (0.8%, stable) and energy (-0.4%, compared with -2.0% in August). (BD)
