01/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – The ambassadors of the EU Member States meeting within the Political and Security Committee have appointed Romanian Brigadier General Claudiu-Mădălin Tamaș to succeed Brigadier General Nicolae-Gabriel Oros as Force Commander of the European Union’s CSDP military training mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM CAR). Mr Oros had been in post since the end of September 2024 (see EUROPE 13468/14). The ambassadors also appointed Greek Commodore Spyridon Pollatos as EU Force Commander for the Union’s military operation in the Mediterranean EUNAVFOR MED Irini. He will replace Italian Rear Admiral Alessandro di Biasi, in post since 4 April 2025 (see EUROPE 13608/28).
