08/07/25 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 8 July, the Council of the European Union decided to extend the mandate of the European Union military training mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) by one year, until 19 September 2026. For the extension year, the Council has decided to allocate a reference amount of €11.4 million to this military mission in support of the Central African authorities. Since July 2016, EUTM CAR has trained and instructed nearly 9,500 members of the Central African Forces (FACA). The Council also decided to extend the mandate of the Regional Advisory and Coordination Cell (RACC) within the EUCAP Sahel Mali civilian mission until 31 January 2026. This unit, set up in 2019, aims to support regional and cross-border cooperation in the Sahel and strengthen national capacities in Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania and Niger. According to the Council, there will be no cost associated with this extension. (CG)
