29/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 29 April, the European Commission signed a framework contract enabling 17 European countries to purchase up to 27,403,200 ‘Foclivia’ flu vaccines. The contract was signed with Seqirus UK Ltd, through the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA). ‘Foclivia’ protects against influenza when a pandemic is declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) or the EU. The Commission’s aim is to prevent the consequences of a pandemic, in line with its strategy to improve the response to public health threats (see EUROPE 13620/15). This joint procurement contract is concluded for 48 months and may be renewed twice, for a period of 12 months each. Two previous agreements of this type have been signed for flu vaccines: in 2019 with CSL Seqirus and in 2022 with the Belgian company GSK. (LM)
