29/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – A new provisional version of the delegated act defining low-carbon hydrogen, obtained by Agence Europe on Tuesday 29 April, retains the date of 1 July 2028 for assessing the impact of the introduction of alternative approaches “for recognising low-carbon electricity from nuclear power plants”, i.e. specifying the methodology for assessing the greenhouse gas emission savings achieved through the signing of power purchase agreements (PPAs) for nuclear power. The document goes on to say that the European Commission should launch a public consultation on this draft methodology by 30 June 2026. In addition, the Commission’s assessments should take into account, according to the text, “the overall impact of such approaches on the energy system” as well as “maintaining a level playing field with fully renewable electricity”.
