09/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – The next trilogue meeting on the revision of the European Works Council (EWC) Directive will be held on 20 May, rather than 6 May as initially envisaged by the co-legislators, an European Parliament source told Agence Europe on Wednesday 9 April (see EUROPE 13605/12). The aim for both parties is to give themselves more time for technical work so that the trilogue on 20 May will be the final one. As a reminder, the revision of the EWC Directive aims to improve the process for consulting employees in the event of restructuring operations that impact at least two countries. The mandates differ, among other things, on the transnational definitions that must be submitted to the EWC for consultation, the nature of the confidential information to be shared, and the sanctions in the event that the company does not comply with the EWC consultation rules.
