15/11/24 (Agence Europe) – Consultations between the EU and Colombia to ensure that the latter fully implements the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruling on restrictions on Belgian, Dutch and German frozen fries (see EUROPE 13422/23) have not led to a satisfactory outcome for the EU. It is therefore calling for the establishment of a compliance panel, which will have to judge whether or not Colombia has complied with the terms of the report of the WTO Dispute Settlement Body, issued in December 2022 (see EUROPE 13089/4). The panel has 90 days to deliver its verdict. If it finds in favour of Colombia, the EU will be able to take countermeasures against Colombia under its Trade Compliance Regulation. (LM)
