15/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – On 6 November, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced that it would be stepping up its support for European farmers. To this end, the EIB’s Board has adopted a €3 billion programme of support for agriculture and agro-industry in Europe, the largest ever provided by the EIB to this sector. This initiative will help fill the funding gaps for this economic activity that is essential for food security. The new programme aims to mobilise investment in key areas that promote innovation, sustainable practices and resilience in the face of climate change. It will streamline funding to support sustainable agriculture, digital agriculture tools, water management systems and the working capital needed for climate change resilience and crop adaptation.
