15/11/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 14 November, the European social partners in the fishing industry, represented by Europêche and the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF), presented the European Parliament with the results of an initiative aimed at creating a “safer, healthier and more worker-friendly fisheries sector across Europe”. The conference, organised by MEPs Nicolás González Casares (S&D, Spanish) and Paulo do Nascimento Cabral (EPP, Portuguese), was an opportunity to present innovative tools developed as part of the European project ‘Pillars of the Sea 3: Roadmap towards socially sustainable fishing’. Projects include commercial measures to combat forced labour in the sector and guidelines for the fair recruitment of migrant fishermen. Details: https://aeur.eu/f/ebi (LC)
