ACER opens public consultation in order to give its opinion on new European Network of Network Operators for Hydrogen

The Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) is going to open a public consultation—which will run from 23 September to 21 October 2024—to gather input from stakeholders in order to formulate its opinion on the establishment of the new ‘European Network of Network Operators for Hydrogen’ (ENNOH) (see EUROPE 13434/29).

This independent entity is required by the revised rules of the ‘gas’ package (see EUROPE 13455/26) in order to facilitate cooperation among the EU’s hydrogen transmission network operators.

ACER has until 30 December to examine the future hydrogen transmission network operators’ draft statutory documents, submitted on 30 August, and to give the European Commission its opinion.

The European Commission will then have to issue its own opinion for future hydrogen network operators, taking ACER’s opinion into account.
