CINEA launches 4th call for cross-border renewable energy project status (CB RES)

On Tuesday 3 September, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) launched its 4th call for cross-border renewable energy project status (CB RES status), enabling projects to be included on a list of projects eligible for funding under the ‘Connecting Europe Facility for Energy’ (‘CEF Energy’) programme.

Project promoters have until 7 January 2025 to take part in the call.

Within CEF Energy, the CB RES programme targets renewable energy projects that involve cross-border cooperation between EU Member States, but also between EU Member States and non-EU countries. As a result, 14 projects have been awarded funding totalling more than €90 million (see EUROPE 13461/2).

CB RES status is a mandatory condition for receiving financial support for studies and work under the CEF Energy programme.

Obtaining the status can also bring other benefits, “higher visibility, increased investor certainty, and stronger support from EU countries”, stressed the European Commission in a press release.
